State CLE Requirements
Arizona CLE Requirements
Arizona attorneys must complete 15 credit hours of Continuing Legal Education every year, including 3 hours of ethics and professional responsibility.
Overview
The State Bar of Arizona requires all active attorneys to complete 15 hours of approved continuing legal education each year. Unlike most states that use a two-year cycle, Arizona operates on an annual cycle running from July 1 to June 30.
Of the 15 required hours, at least 3 must be in ethics and professional responsibility. The remaining 12 hours may be earned in any approved CLE category.
For more details, see the State Bar of Arizona MCLE Information.

Arizona has one of the simpler CLE structures. TalksOnLaw courses cover both required categories.
Ethics & Professional Responsibility
3 hrsAt least 3 of the 15 required hours must address ethics or professional responsibility topics. These may include attorney conduct, legal malpractice, client relations, and judicial ethics.
General CLE

Reporting & Compliance
Annual Cycle
Arizona's educational year runs July 1 through June 30. All 15 hours must be completed by June 30 each year. Attorneys have until September 15 to file the compliance affidavit with the State Bar.
Carryover Credits
Arizona allows a generous carryover of up to 15 hours to the next year, including up to 3 hours of ethics credit. Excess credits earned above the 15-hour minimum carry forward automatically.
Credit Formats
Arizona accepts live, on-demand, and online courses. Self-study is capped at 5 hours per year. Teaching and writing activities may also earn credit (capped at 10 hours each).
New Admittees
Attorneys admitted during July–December have a reduced requirement of 10 hours (including 2 ethics hours). Attorneys admitted January–June have no requirement for that year.
