Prof. Jody Madeira

Jody Lyneé Madeira is a Professor of Law at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where she has taught since 2007. Her research examines how Americans talk about firearms and their benefits, risks, rights, and regulation, including how doctor-patient discussions of firearm ownership and access affect treatment relationships and medical care. She is the author, coauthor, or editor of dozens of scholarly articles and several books, and a co-author, with Joseph Blocher, Jacob D. Charles, and Darrell A. H. Miller, of the casebook The Second Amendment: Gun Rights and Regulation (Foundation Press, 2025). She is also an internationally recognized expert in fertility fraud, bioethics, and law and medicine, with a focus on reproductive endocrinology. Professor Madeira clerked for the Hon. Richard D. Cudahy of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
