Joel Cohen

Founder CEO

Joel writes and speaks on contemporary and controversial legal issues. Prior to TalksOnLaw, Joel worked at Skadden Arps, where his practice focused on cross-border transactions, corporate strategy, and mergers & acquisitions. A student of public speaking and policy, Joel has worked as a speechwriter and strategist both in the US government and within the UK parliament. Joel also has a passion for the environment, and was appointed by the Government of Argentina as an economist on international environmental matters. Born in North Carolina, Joel has law degrees from Duke University and was honored to be a Reynolds Scholar at Wake Forest.

Michelle Kim

Legal and Programming

Michelle studied history, communications, and French at Boston College and earned her law degree from Brooklyn Law School. While at BLS, Michelle was dedicated to public interest, interning at the various city agencies and at the BLS Safe Harbor Clinic, where she helped secure asylum for a refugee. Prior to law school, she was a structured finance legal assistant at a large firm in New York. Michelle counts running, hiking, backpacking, and historical non-fiction among her interests.

Giuseppe Scaravilli

Strategy and Business

Radio DJ, writer, and thinker. Giuseppe is passionate about cross-cutting legal issues and brings his international acumen to the TalksOnLaw bench. With master’s degrees in law from both LUISS University in Rome (Italy) and Fordham, Giuseppe is a legal scholar with a broad perspective. His legal research focuses on environmental issues, international business and trade, mass media, and the EU. Giuseppe is a talented guitarist and football (soccer) addict.

Shradha Kumar

Filming and Production

Artist, director, and creator. Shradha studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy and Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. She interned at the New York Women in Film & TV and assisted with feature films, shorts, and music videos. She recently worked with acclaimed director Mira Nair on the film The Reluctant Fundamentalist, starring Kate Hudson and Kiefer Sutherland. Shradha is famous around the town for her laugh, unique voice, and ability to make friends with perfect strangers.

Henry Yin

Special Advisor

Henry Yin is a trusted advisor on all issues business development, venture capital, media and technology. Henry is a partner at the global law firm, Cooley. Henry started his legal career in the New York office of Skadden Arps (where he worked with Joel) and was a partner in the Hong Kong office of Kirkland & Ellis prior to joining Cooley. He is a graduate of Duke Law School.
