UVA Law & Harvard Law
“Age‑verification is a delicate balance—protecting children without eroding adult speech and privacy.”
Leah Plunkett teaches at Harvard Law School. She is the Meyer Research Lecturer on Law at HLS and a faculty associate with the Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. As of the time of this taping, she serves as the reporter for the Uniform Law Commission’s “Child Digital Entertainers” Drafting Committee, which is developing a uniform act to protect the earnings and privacy of child influencers and other minor digital performers. Her scholarship focuses on digital privacy and the digital lives of kids, families, and communities. Leah is the author of the book Sharenthood, which explores how the laws in the United States have led to an oversharing crisis that endangers children and how it can be fixed.
Naomi R. Cahn teaches at UVA Law School. She is the Justice Anthony M. Kennedy Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Virginia School of Law and one of the leading voices shaping modern family law. A recipient of the Harry Krause Lifetime Achievement in Family Law Award, Cahn’s scholarship tackles the legal frontiers of kinship, caregiving, and children’s welfare, and her expertise has helped guide national policy as the reporter for multiple Uniform Law Commission drafting committees. Through her books, articles, and casebooks—Cahn has redefined the field’s agenda, centering the dignity and rights of children and families in all their contemporary diversity.
